The Maryland Therapy Network

The Maryland Therapy Network will be hosting three (3) different summer programs that will be conducted in small group settings in our Bel Air Clinic location. Handwriting Skills, Social Skills and Life Skills will be the focus of these programs, as described below.

All groups are led by a trained occupational therapist and/or a speech language pathologist. We offer a variety of group sizes and age levels dependent on each child’s needs. Handwriting Skills

These groups will be aimed at children that have difficulty mastering the mechanics of handwriting, both print and cursive. It will follow the “Handwriting Without Tears” program, as well as utilizing a multi sensory approach to letter and number formation led by a trained occupational therapist. Children will be grouped based on their developmental level. The groups will run once a week for 8 weeks.

Social Skills

This group will focus on increasing children’s awareness and use of pragmatic language skills. It will consist of small group instruction with other children who have similar language skills. The group will focus on skill development when implementing social skill instruction. It will aim to help the child better understand and use nonverbal language, social and emotional cues.

Life Skills

Many types of skills are required today, not only to survive but to experience independence and success in everyday living. The Maryland Therapy Network’s skills curriculum provides small group instruction by an occupational therapist and will focus on learning tasks that have been identified to help children become more independent in their homes, at school, and in their community.
