Teletherapy sessions are held over the internet through an audio and video connection.
Teletherapy has proven to be successful with a wide range of disorders and impairments and as effective as in-person therapy sessions.
Teletherapy is held over the internet through a video call. You can use a computer or a tablet with an internet connection and a camera. Additionally, most phones can host video calls, so that you may attend teletherapy using your iPhone or Android. If you are familiar with Facetime or Zoom, you will be able to participate in teletherapy! We will work with you to troubleshoot the technology and set you up for success. Our therapists work closely with parents and children to create the best possible situation for effective therapy sessions using their specialized knowledge and skills. Children will participate in engaging interventions and activities that promote learning and translate well through the screen. Assessments, interventions, therapy sessions and consultations are available as part of teletherapy. Learn more about our range of therapy services, available throughout Maryland via teletherapy.
We conduct our teletherapy sessions using Zoom for Healthcare, a videoconferencing platform that is compliant with regulations set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act (HIPAA). Children will need a computer, tablet or smart phone with a reliable internet connection. Parental assistance and support during these sessions is key to a child’s success, and we ask parents to participate in the session whenever possible. Many people choose teletherapy for its convenience. Teletherapy sessions eliminate the need for travel and allow us to serve children in all parts of the state. Sessions can be scheduled at mutually convenient times for the parent, child and therapist.
We accept Maryland Medical Assistance, and teletherapy sessions are covered by most insurance companies. Contact us with specific questions or concerns about insurance coverage and we’ll be happy to assist.
